Pinnacles Desert, Western Australia

The Pinnacles is a collection of ancient limestone pillars. I visited this spot on day trip, just a 2.5-hour drive from Perth.

What to do

We took the Scenic Loop Drive. This allows you to drive your car around the track. There are spots for you to pull over and explore different sections of Pinnacles. Some of these limestone pillars stretch up to 3.5 metres and come in many different shapes, sizes and colours.

You may also walk the track or bushwalk if you have extra time.  More importantly, if you miss something, you can do the Scenic Loop Drive as many times as you like!

Getting There

The Pinnacles is located in Nambung National Park, about 2.5-3hours from Perth via Indian Ocean Drive. Many people go to Pinnacles on a day trip or as part of a road trip up to the Coral Coast of Western Australia. The Pinnacles is by the ocean so there a lot of coastal stops on the way!

Photography

The spot is visited by many photographers, who seek to capture the uniqueness of the area. I loved the distinctive textures and patterns in the rocks!
